I was very excited when our AW14 collection 'Hibernation' got blogged by Cécile de Gatty of L'Amardio Del Delitto fame. Cécile is a multilingual beauty who blogs in Italian and French about exactly the sort of retro-cute-chic fashion Book of Deer loves to be associated with... as well as other things we have in common like cats and Bob Dylan. Most exciting of all L'Amardio Del Delitto is one of a select group of blogs under the Grazia.it umbrella and I can't think of anything more glamorous than reaching out to more Book of Deer girls in Italy!

Those of you who spend a good chunk of your day devouring style blogs no doubt will have come across Bestie Konisis of The Capricious Club during your internet trawls. Bestie is one of my fave style inspirations, she perfectly personifies the Book of Deer girl in my head. Manila-based Bestie is a self-confessed style chameleon and flits effortlessly between flower child layering and prim vintage looks. I love how she styled her Book of Deer Snowy Blouse and Grizzly Skirt with milk-maid braids, frilly socks and platform mary-janes. Bestie expertly demonstrates how to dress for winter against a tropical backdrop and I'm envious she doesn't have to hide her adorable outfits under a big coat! In Bestie's words: "I have only ever experienced real snow once in my life, on a trip to china with my family many years ago. It was an experience both delightful and frightening; the newness of it was nothing short of exhilarating. no matter how much we prepared for it we were still constantly startled by the jarring cold that crept over every inch of exposed skin and through little crevices that could not quite get covered by the warmth of winter clothing. still I would not trade it for the world: that brief encounter I had with snow made me believe, more than ever, that I was meant to dance among white flurries and stand in awe at the beauty of it all. If you are frequent visitor to this website you may have noticed I unveiled Book of Deer's Spring Summer 2015 collection last week. 'Country Kitchen' takes inspiration from homemaking nostalgia and 1950's day dresses. You'll find dresses patterned with Aga ovens, silverware and clothes pegs, blouses decorated with miniature cutlery charms and embroidered peter-pan collars.

People often ask how I decide upon each season's theme. In truth, sometimes it's easy and sometimes it's hard to commit to an idea... the turning of each calendar month does force me to stop messing around creating moodboards on Pinterest though! I find that usually it is my life outside of Book of Deer that infiltrates my designs, I like to keep abreast of pop culture and pick up on common themes that thread through my daily blogroll. I suppose you might deduce from Book of Deer's SS15 collection that I have been inspired by the popularity of cooking shows and the packaged concept of home baking. I confess that I am a massive fan of The Great British Bake Off, I love twee kitchen decor (Cath Kidston, Emma Brigewater all that stuff) and I'm an avid follower of Japanese and Nordic foodgrammers. I am however, a pretty terrible cook.（΄︵◝❀） Book of Deer 'Country Kitchen' is a chance for me to live out my culinary fantasies the only way I know how- through creating an imaginary world in illustrative prints. Country Kitchen presents a visually palatable, dreamily rustic kitchen life that could not be more different from my own stressful experiences in the kitchen. I love the idea of swanning around a large wooden table hand-decorating cakes while simultaneously stirring soup on the stove. I can't say I'm inspired to change my cooking ways despite months studying Aga ovens and vintage cutlery, but next summer you will likely find me boiling my instant noodles in a dress adorned with jam jars and at least pretending to enjoy it!
